"Photos are powerful metaphors, turning the abstract into something tangible and bringing a sense of mystery to the everyday. Embrace clarity and confidence in your storytelling, without overthinking it. The beauty of your journey is that it will continue to evolve, just as your perspective does. The sea's waves whisper sensually over the bare surfaces of the rocks
an eternal seduction of water against stone
In this dance of love
soft and intense
the sea leaves its love letters
etched in the rock's skin
the ocean,
with its passionate patience,
embraces and shapes the landscape
tracing lines of endless desire in the solid stone
a symbol of infinity and possibilities.

SKADDENE

Skaddene: Where the Sea and Creativity Meet

In the archipelago outside Risør, at a place known as Skaddene, the sea and the rocks find a harmonious balance that speaks to both body and mind. Here, the wind softly brushes against the weathered islets, and the sea whispers secrets to those quiet enough to listen. It is in this landscape that Andreas Ausland, a dedicated photographer with a keen eye for natural light and form, spends his summers. Through the lens of his camera, he captures more than what is visible – he captures the essence of fleeting yet eternal moments, a dialogue between nature and the soul.

For Ausland, Skaddene is not just a physical location but a space where creativity flows freely. Surrounded by smooth rocks and the vast sea, he finds the calm necessary to open himself to creative energy. It is in these silent, timeless landscapes that he creates some of his most intimate and emotive photographs. In the natural light that shifts throughout the day, he discovers infinite nuances – not only in the landscape but in his own inner world.

The source of creativity, he finds, lies in the simplicity and grandeur of the natural world – the sunlight breaking through the morning mist, the gentle rippling of water against the shore, and the quiet that envelops it all. In this natural harmony, he grasps something fundamental about creation: that creativity is not a force to be coerced, but one that flows naturally when given the space to unfold.

For Ausland, Skaddene embodies this philosophy. He describes the place as a sanctuary for reflection, where the rhythm of nature and the endless horizon of the sea open up a space for contemplation. Here, one cannot help but feel part of something larger, where the boundaries between the human and the natural blur. Through his photography, he conveys this experience, and each image becomes a gateway to a deeper understanding of creativity’s nature – its ability to be both chaotic and harmonious, always in motion, always shifting like the tides.

It is in the encounter with the sea, with the light and sounds of nature, that Ausland finds his own creative drive. In this landscape, where everything is in constant flux, he experiences a profound connection between his inner self and the world around him. This place becomes not only a refuge but a source of inspiration, where nature becomes his co-creator in the process. To him, it feels as though the landscape itself desires to be captured through the lens, as if it has its own story to tell.

As he stands on the rocky shore and gazes out over the sea, all demands for achievement and productivity fade away. Instead, he surrenders to the moment, to the intuitive joy of being in touch with nature. His photographs capture this freedom, this moment where everything merges – nature, creativity, and human experience. He knows that creativity, like the sea, cannot be controlled. It must be given room to grow naturally, to develop on its own terms.

In this way, Skaddene becomes a symbol of the very nature of creation – a place where stillness carries infinite possibilities, where the light dancing over the rocks serves as a reminder that inspiration is always present, ready to be captured by those who dare to listen. For Andreas Ausland, this place is an inexhaustible source of creative energy, a reminder that within the simplicity of nature lies a deep connection to the human soul.

"SKADDENE “ COLLECTION

In a black-and-white photograph, the dark coastal rocks emerge as a fusion of softness and hardness, a landscape of contrasts that invites both touch and distance. The smooth surfaces, shaped by centuries under nature's hand, bear the marks of time, where every line and curve is a chapter in a silent story.

The sun, invisible in this monochrome world, leaves its trace in the form of bright patches where dried salt clings like tiny crystals, almost like memories of a vanished sea. These white markings breathe life into the otherwise dark stone, like small reflections of stardust on a night sky, reminding us of the infinite interplay between water and rock.

In the contrast between black and white lies a kind of stillness, a silent dialogue between the soft, which yields to the passage of time, and the hard, which resists yet ultimately surrenders. The rocks, seemingly unmovable, carry with them an eternal philosophy: that in life, as in stone, it is in the meeting of opposites that beauty and depth are born.
